Production:

Elaborated from a selection of the native grape variety to the area, Mencía, sourced from their own vineyards and from local traditional winegrowers, grown on slate and granite soils and located in terraces with steep slopes at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level. The vines are trained 80% along trellises and 20% in bush training. 

Manual harvest. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats using native and selected yeast. Spent 12 months in stainless steel vats.

Gaba do Xil is Telmo Rodríguez’s most recent project; actually, he is already producing wines in eight different DOs. The project started after putting his sights on the potential of this largely Galician region and the native Godello grape variety.

The ancestral vineyard where the grapes are coming from is called "La Falcoeira" and is located in the town of Santa Cruz and is planted with the native varieties, white Godello and red Mencia. 

Tasting Notes: 

Clear expression of the Atlantic Mencía with an excellent expressive nose, freshness, floral, herbal, and spicy notes, medium-bodied, silky texture, and good acidity.

Notes: Best enjoyed over the next 2-3 years.
