En Moviment is the new and most personal project of the Celler Bàrbara Forès, led entirely by Pili Sanmartin Ferrer, the new generation of the bodega. She has created the series En Moviment (in movement), wines born of the freedom to create and experiment. The project is a voyage of learning and experimenting, which began in 2014 with her arrival at the family’s Celler Bàrbara Fores and is in continuous progress. It consists of a very limited production of small vinifications of ecological production and minimal intervention.
En Moviment 3 is made of 100% Grenache grapes, sourced from old vines ecologically farmed from "El Coll de Batea", a small finca of just 0.73 ha situated west of the city of Gandesa, facing east. The terrain is smooth, and the landscape is soft with small rolling hills, with terroir composed of the characteristic Panal, a mixture of sandy lands and silts. Here the plants have deep roots that live together with the lime. It gives a dense wine that is sweet and fruity.
The wine is macerated for 6 days with the skins and fermented in a jug of ceramic with its own yeasts.
Tasting Notes: Intense dark cherry colour. Good complexity on the nose with intense, mature fruit aromas. Fresh acidity, fruity, and very pleasant. Elegant and smooth on the palate, with a very easy-going feeling.
THE WINERY
Celler Bàrbara Forés is a family-owned winery that dates back to the 19th century. It is named for its original founder and winemaker, a pioneer of the 19th century, Bàrbara Forés (1825-1905), who, together with her son Rafael Ferrer, built the bodega and equipped it for bottling wine, which was something rare in that century.
Actually, the winery is in the hands of their descendant, Carmen Ferrer, and her husband, Manuel Sanmartin. They took control of it in 1994, restored it and made it work again. Later in 2019, their daughter Pili Sanmartín joined the family business, bringing with her a fresh approach that encourages the dialogue of wine with the arts, which will be reflected in the new line of wines she produces.
