Vino de Paraje de Rozas de Puerto Real, in the province of Madrid. A 100% Garnacha blend from Sierra de Gredos that faithfully represents the identity of a place. It comes from 6 small plots, totalling 6 hectares, of over 50-year-old vineyards planted on granitic soil at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level.
Rozas 1er Cru, like its younger sibling, La Bruja de Rozas, is a clear and enticing example of high mountain Garnacha, but with a deeper minerality and slightly firmer tannins.
Wine elaborated by Comando G., a group of enologists and winegrowers from the Sierra de Gredos area, who elaborate wines from the Grenache variety. The vineyards are located in Cadalso de los Vidrios within the D.O. Madrid, at an altitude of 900 metres above sea level, on granitic soils. Scattered vineyards situated in inaccessible places high up in the most remote parts of the backcountry. All the vineyards assembled for the project are farmed biodynamically.
Production:
Produced using traditional methods, practising organic farming and biodynamic techniques.
Hand-harvested, gentle and long maceration with whole grapes. Fermented by indigenous yeasts in open top French oak casks. The wine has aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
Production limited to 3913 bottles for vintages 2023
Tasting Notes:
Pale-coloured wine, extraordinarily aromatic and intensely flavourful. Elegant, fresh and deep, with a silky texture, hints of sweet spices, red fruit, minerals and firm tannins.
