El Mentridano, village wine, is a skilful blend of Garnacha, pure mountain garnachas at an altitude of 600 metres from old vines of around 40 years in age. Elaborated by Curro Barreño, the Grenache grapes come from a 7.8-hectare vineyard composed of granite soils in the Valle del Alberche, on the north face of Sierra de Gredos and within the Designation of Origin Méntrida.
The project is actually led by winemaker Curro Barreño, known for his work at Fedellos de Couto winery. A project that had been originally started by Daniel Landi, one of the founders of the renowned Comando G project. Curro continued Daniel's legacy, taking over the previously recovered vineyards that he had managed and worked in the Sierra de Gredos.
Production:
Hand harvested. Short maceration. Whole cluster fermented in open-top oak vats. Aged for 7 months in neutral French oak foudres. It has not undergone any filtration or stabilisation process.
Tasting Notes:
High-altitude Garnacha displaying freshness and elegance. Nose of berries, dark cherries and wild strawberries, flowers and aromatic herbs such as thyme.
Intense and fresh on the palate, medium to full-bodied, soft tannins, notes of red fruit, spiced and mineral. Finishing warm and long.
