The distillery is located in the Scottish west coast port of Oban, considered the "Gateway to the Isles" for its location, and that reflects in Oban’s attractive character, which reveals aspects of both the Highland and the island styles: a combination of the sea air character of the island malts and the soft, fruitier style of the Highlands.

Oban is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland, where fine single malt has been made for over 200 years. The distillery has only 2 pot stills, making it one of the smallest in Scotland. Oban, the Classic Malt of the West Highlands, is made using only the finest barley, malted to the distillery’s own particular specification.

It displays a rich, sweet and fruity nose – oranges, lemons and pears – with sea salt and peaty smokiness. Full and rich with mouth-filling late autumn fruits on the palate, dried figs and honey-sweet spices. Finishes long and smooth-sweet with oak wood, dryness and a grain of salt.

Oban is the Western Highland malt in the group of the “six Classic Malts”.
