Created in 1976 to celebrate the centenary of the foundation of the town of Zacapa in eastern Guatemala. Its unique taste is due to the use of virgin sugarcane honey as the base, sourced from their plantation on the volcanic plains of Retalhulen, 350 metres above sea level in southwestern Guatemala, and it makes all the difference to Zacapa’s remarkable taste and profile, giving them a sweeter, smoother flavour.

Using a unique solera system, rums from 6 to 23 years old are blended in casks that once held robust American whisky, sherry, and fine Pedro Ximenez and aged in a stunning location in the highlands of Quetzaltenango, 2300 metres above sea level, where it will develop its complex flavours and character. As a result, this Zacapa Centenary rum presents sweet aromas of caramel, honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak, and a raisin-scented nose. Complex and full-bodied with a sweet, honeyed flavour and a great depth of raisin fruit, savoury oak, nutmeg, spice, and cinnamon.
