Castell del Remei, one of the oldest wineries in Catalonia, was founded in the 19th century but was totally revamped in the 1980s when it was acquired by the Cuisiné family in 1982.
The second-biggest bodega in the area, notorious for its red blends, has recovered the tradition of crafting classic wines like this vermouth from an old recipe with a base of white wine of the Macabeu variety.
Made from an exclusive selection of wines and botanicals, such as hierba santa, gentia, gypsy herb, blessed thistle, and spices such as nutmeg and saffron, finishing with a citrus touch of orange peel.
It is made from a base of Macabeu wine with a low alcohol content of almost 11%. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The herbs and aromatic plants are macerated for a month in a mixed solution of white wine and alcohol before the base wine is added.
Ideal as an aperitif, drink it very cold with ice, soda, grapefruit, and an olive.
