Cara Nord Garrut is a monovarietal made from the local variety Garrut (also known in other regions as Monastrell and Mourvèdre). This wine is part of the indigenous variety recovery initiative launched by the winery from its beginning under the umbrella of the DO Conca de Barberà.
A high-mountain wine, from vineyards growing on poor slate, stony and clay-calcareous soils, located at 800 meters above sea level, on the north face of La Sierra de Prades, in a privileged and magical setting, surrounded by high mountains and forest in the Natural Park of Prades and the Natural Park of Poblet. The vines here are exposed to extreme temperature contrasts and grow under difficult conditions, which create unusual wines, as the grapes grown at high altitudes are noted for their higher natural acidity content, which benefits the production of a wine of much higher quality that exhibits an amazing depth, concentration, and complexity, qualities that contribute to their unique personality and give it a remarkable capacity for ageing.
Production:
Fermented with the skins and aged for 6 months, half in 500-litre amphorae and half in 500-litre used French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes:
Intense notes of red fruit combined with aromatic herbs like fennel and menthol. Excellent freshness and acidity on the palate, and remarkable intensity all the way to the end.
