El Camiño Real is classified as "Viño de Garda", the newly created official category. This is a blend of 80% Mencía wine blended with other local varieties, Caiño, Sousón, Merenzao, and Brancellao. Grapes sourced from old vines, over 50 years old, from different vineyards in the Amandi area, with different types of soils, orientations, and altitudes.
Production:
Hand-harvested, fermented in troncoconic oak vats with indigenous yeasts and 60% full-clusters grapes. The wine matures for 8 months in French oak barrels and 5000-litre oak vats.
Tasting Note: Great aromatic intensity; has floral components, especially violets; perfumed and mineral notes. Entry on the palate is fresh and vibrant, with good fresh acidity.
ADEGAS GUÍMARO is a small family winery that produces a small and selected amount of wine in the traditional way. They own 8 hectares comprising of 30 to 100-year-old vines and work another 12 to 14 hectares under their control. The vines are planted in single-row plots in a privileged natural setting on steep slopes ranging between 50% and 70%. They collaborate with other wineries, such as Niepoort and Raúl Pérez.
