The Priory of Scala Dei, founded in 1163, was the first monastery on the peninsula and planted the region’s first grapes; for this reason, the bodega is emblematic of the Priorat. The current owners took over in 1973, and Codorniu bought 25% at the end of 2000.

The grapes are sourced from different selected small plots, located mainly in the traditional costers, steep slopes on soil dominated by the characteristic "llicorella" or slate, of the Priorat. It ages in new and second-year French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by another 12 months in bottle.

Tasting notes:

Rich and succulent fruit on the nose. Full-bodied red, smooth and tasty, with plenty of ripe berry fruit on the palate and subtle oak and spice. Mineral with good Priorat typicity.
