Almodí Roure is a single varietal of Hairy Grenache made by Altavins Viticultors in Batea, Terra Alta. 

Production:

Manually harvested and fermented at a controlled temperature below 26ºC. It spent 4 months in casks of French oak.

Tasting Notes:

Cherry coloured with a violet hue. Displays a red fruit-scented nose, with raspberries and blackberries combined with floral and spicy notes of liquorice. Fresh on the palate, with an excellent fruit expression, notes of red fruit compote, good acidity and balance.

Altavins is a small winery located in the Terra Alta D.O., southwest of Catalonia. It was founded in 2001 by Joan Bautista and Jordi Casado. Their vineyards are planted between 350 and 500 metres above sea level on a variety of soils that are well drained, rich in lime, and low in organic matter. The nature of the soils provides their grapes with an exceptionally high concentration of minerals; this, together with the considerable difference in temperature between nights and days while the grapes are ripening, maximises the aromas and flavours of the grapes. Actually, the winery produces a nice range of the highest-quality wines to suit all possible tastes.
