The first white wine produced by the renowned Aalto winery. An aged white wine of exceptional character that follows in the footsteps of the winery's range of wines for its quality and distinctiveness.
The Aalto white wine is made from a blend in which the predominant variety is the Verdejo, although other varieties such as Godello and Albillo are also present in smaller percentages, giving it a more aromatic nuance.
The grapes are sourced from a single estate, "Fuente de las Hontanillas", situated at an altitude of over 850 meters above sea level in Quintanilla de Arriba, Valladolid, under the VT de Castilla y León.
Production:
Harvested exclusively by hand following a careful selection process of the best grapes. Fermented and matured for 10 months in 500-litre oak barrels.
Bottled in September 2023.
Tasting Notes:
Straw yellow colour, clean and bright. The nose displays freshness and good aromaticity, with floral and white stone fruit aromas. Palate intense, very smooth and fresh. Aromas reminiscent of red apple fruit with a slight mineral background. Good acidity, with plenty of room for evolution in the bottle.
Bodegas y Viñedos Aalto is a partnership between the well-known vigneron Mariano Garcia (Bodegas Mauro) and Javier Zaccagnini (Bodegas Ossian). The winery is located in the municipal district of Quintanilla de Arriba, in the highly acclaimed wine region of Ribera del Duero.
Aalto is the result of a careful selection of high-quality grapes. The winery controls, under strict supervision, 100 ha. of very old, low-yielding vineyards with very old clones of Tinto Fino of outstanding quality, located in 7 different villages of the DO. Ribera del Duero. Aalto is now regarded as one of Spain's major wines, having earned a well-deserved reputation not just in Spain but also worldwide.
