Blanc del Terrer is a single-varietal Macabeo white wine with a marked Mediterranean character, which shows the perfect combination of freshness and salinity provided by the terroir where Finca Vinyes del Terrer is located.
Production:
Made from Macabeo grapes from old vines over 50 years, from viticulture that respects the ecosystem and is fully certified organic CCPAE. The estate vineyard is situated at an altitude of 300 meters, consisting of about 3 hectares in the municipality of Santes Creus (Tarragona) with argillo-limestone type soils.
Hand harvested after a strict selection of the grapes at the vineyard, followed by a manual selection at the sorting table in the cellar. The grapes have been gently destemmed. Fermentation takes place in 500-litre tanks.
The wine is then aged for 8 months in cement and 5000-litre stainless steel tanks with its fine lees.
Tasting Notes:
A wine with a lovely Mediterranean character. Clean, bright yellow colour with a green hue. Clean, fruity, and mineral aromas on the nose. Fresh palate, unctuous thanks to its ageing on the lees, with a lovely fruit flavour and a touch of saline. It has a pleasantly long, fluid and smooth finish.
Vinyes del Terrer’s state consists of nine parcels scattered over 7 hectares located just south of Tarragona in the municipal district of Vilaseca, within the D.O. Tarragona. The vineyards are planted on siliceous, fossil-rich soils accumulated over millions of years, a unique soil called lumaquela, at an altitude of 20 meters above sea level and just 2 km away from the Mediterranean Sea. Its microclimate is characterised by its abundant sunshine and gentle sea breezes, which, together with the particular composition of fossil-rich soils, produce intensely mineral wines.
