Nosso is a young, natural verdejo made with zero added sulphites by Bodegas Menade. It is a fresh wine made entirely from Verdejo grapes sourced from various of their own vineyards and growing on clay-limestone and stony soils at an altitude of around 750 metres.
The wine has been produced under minimal intervention and is made from a selection of hand-harvested grapes. The malolactic fermentation process takes place spontaneously, part of which takes place in oak barrels. Racked and aged on its lees for approximately 2-3 months, followed by a couple of months of ageing in bottle.
Tasting notes:
Pale golden yellow in colour, it opens up, revealing aromas characteristic of the Verdejo varietal. Displays notes of green apple, hints of honey and herbal notes, along with subtle hints of yeast and bakery notes. On the palate, it enters smooth with balanced acidity; notes of stone fruit and grape must stand out.
Bodegas Menade is the project of the Sanz siblings – Alejandra, Marco and Richard – the sixth generation of an iconic family and pioneers of the Rueda Designation of Origin. The winery was founded in 2005, and Richard Sanz, the owner, is currently in charge of winemaking. They produce a wide range of organic white wines with Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc from their own certified organic vineyards.
The winery is recognised for its commitment to organic viticulture and for introducing a natural-focused philosophy to the region. All of its vineyards are farmed organically and hold European organic certification, ensuring a balanced relationship within their surroundings. Its aim is to promote biodiversity and ecosystem health in order to naturally help prevent fungal diseases in flora and fauna.
