Can Sumoi is a high-quality sparkling wine made from 100% Montonega, another name for the Parellada variety. Made under the ancestral method, 100% organically and biodynamically grown, with minimal intervention and no additives or sulphates added. Grapes sourced from vineyards with soils that are poorly developed, calcareous, and stony in the zone of the Montmell Mountain. The result is a lively, fresh, sparkling wine with a distinct Mediterranean character.
Production:
Hand-harvested, destemmed, and soft-treading in the winery. The process of fermentation begins in a stainless steel tank and finishes in bottle. Fermentation using indigenous yeast from the vineyard, 14 days in inertness, and 16 days in the bottle. Aged in bottle for 4 months. No yeasts or added sugar. Not stabilised or filtered. Natural SO2: 13 mg/l.
Tasting Notes: Lively and fresh, with good fruit intensity, floral hints, hints of rosemary herbs, integrated carbonic, and a slightly saline finish.
THE PROJECT
Can Sumoi is the latest project of the Raventós family (Raventós i Blanc). Their latest acquired estate is an agricultural farm dating back to 1645, located in the Massís del Montmell, DO Penedès, with vines growing on poorly developed calcareous and stony soils at 600 metres in altitude.
In this ideal setting, the Raventós i Blanc family began their project based on respect for the environment, natural winemaking with the minimum intervention possible, and practising 100% organic and biodynamic farming.
The result is a range of high-quality natural wines, made from native varieties without the use of additives or any other manipulation. Wines with great personality and quality that transmit the flavour and characteristics of the terroir.
