Production:

Sweet wine elaborated from a selection of overripe grapes from old, unirrigated Monastrell bush vines, with an average age of about 36 years.

Aged in French and American oak barrels for eight months.

Tasting Notes:

An intense and expressive nose displaying confited black fruit aromas. Smooth and unctuous, confited plums and dried fruit, figs, honey, and raisins flavours with toasted nuances. Good balance of acidity-sweetness and very soft tannins.

BODEGAS CASTAÑO    

Today, the family Castaño is a highly respected wine producer in Yecla, Murcia, in southern Spain. Founded in 1950, although it did not start elaborating bottled wine until the 1980s. Today, it produces a wide range of high-quality wines at competitive prices, mostly from the local grape variety Monastrell, from its nearly 450 hectares of vineyards spread across four different estates in the D.O. Yecla.
