Made from 60-year-old Grenache vines, planted at an altitude of 300–400 meters on sloped hillsides and terraces on the outskirts of the Priorat village of El Molar. The soil is comprised mostly of slate, known locally as licorella, Priorat’s distinctive soil that gives its wines an unmistakable character. Manual harvested. Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at a temperature of 28ºC. Spent 10 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting notes:
Mature red fruit and mineral-scented nose. Soft, fruity on the palate with good concentration, it has complexity, elegance and length.
Notes: Will drink well over the next 3–4 years.
The Proyecto Garnachas de España is all about the Grenache variety, a homage to a grape variety that is coming back strongly and taking centre stage due to today’s customer tastes, as it produces remarkable fruity wines with sweet tannins, widely acknowledged for the actual consumer’s tastes. The collection comprises monovarietal wines sourced from very old vineyards and from different areas in Spain, truly reflecting the soil characteristics of each terroir and bringing out the true characteristics of the region they originate from. All the vineyards are located along the Ebro Valley, home to the Grenache grape, where it finds its ideal microclimate and the soils best suited to provide the ideal growing conditions required.
This winery is part of the Vintae Group, an innovative young and dynamic enterprise that elaborates wine in 8 different D.O.s in Spain. Founded in 1999 by Jose Miguel Arambarri, a passionate entrepreneur from La Rioja and a great connoisseur and enthusiastic of the wine world. Today, he leads the project together with his two sons, Ricardo and José Miguel, causing a revolution in the wine-growing industry by creating innovative wines that transmit passion and having always in mind new customer tastes and tendencies.
