Torbador IV is part of an experimental series resulting from the R&D project by the team at Bodegas Mas Alta, a unique project that creates a different and one-off concept every year. A limited and exclusive edition of just 400 bottles that will never be produced again.

Production:

The hand-selected grapes are picked at the latest-ripening time. The century-old Carignan vines are located in the Palada area, an old one-hectare vineyard situated on a steep slope at the highest point of the Voltons Valley.

After realising the vineyard's potential for late ripening in 2024, the team carried out a meticulous, detailed harvest, selecting the grapes one by one. The wine was vinified using a whole-cluster approach, without treading the grapes, in two wheeled barrels, with a three-cycle system to gently break up the cap.

The wine undergoes a brief ageing period of six months in the same barrels and in 50-litre demijohns. After natural stabilisation, it is bottled unfiltered to preserve its natural texture.

Tasting Notes: 

An old-vine Carignan with a distinct varietal purity. Excellent balance of ripe black and red fruit alongside subtle hints of spice, chocolate and a distinctive slate-mineral character. On the palate, it displays a velvety texture, freshness and good acidity.
