Production:

Viern comes from their own high-altitude vineyards, growing on poor slate hillsides, between 800 and 900 metres above sea level, up the hills of Prades in the small village of Vilanova de Prades.

The grapes growing at high altitudes are noted for their higher natural acidity content, which benefits the production of a wine of much higher quality that exhibits amazing depth, concentration, and complexity, qualities that contribute to its unique personality and give them a remarkable capacity for ageing.

The wines are produced in the traditional way, which involves small-scale production, practising viticulture with high respect for the environment, adherence to organic viticulture guidelines in the vineyards and winery, and following the lunar phase calendar.

The wine has aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes:

Mature dark fruit aromas, plums, cassis, liquorice, and cedar notes, jammy fruit on the nose. Ripe, slightly earthy fruit with baked cherry and raspberry, smoky and mineral, marked tannins with volume and concentration.
