Mas Picosa Blanc de Noirs was born out of the challenge of the winery's team to make a white wine out of red grapes. It is the first wine from the cellar to be organically farmed. The Mas Picosa range of wines was added to the winery's already extensive range of wines in 2006, when some of the growers chose to practise organic farming.

Mas Picosa Blanc de Noirs is a white wine with the essence of a red wine. Made from organically grown red grapes and certified by the CCPAE. The Grenache comes from different parts of the valley, growing at an altitude of 150 to 450 metres above sea level.

Production:

Manual harvest. Grape selection. Fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. Light clarification and gentle filtering.

Tasting Notes:

Pale onion skin colour, bright and clean. Notes of stone fruit, nectarine, peach, and sage blossom with a mineral background. Silky on the palate with good acidity and balance.

The Winery

Founded in 1933 by five families from the village of Capçanes, they together established a cooperative that would handle large quantities of grapes economically and efficiently. The cooperative bears the name of the village where it is located: Capçanes, a village hidden away in the Priorat hills inland from Tarragona and with a long wine-growing history.
In the 1990s, the company was reinvented as an independent company with its original members as shareholders; today, they have around 130 members and produce a wide selection of high-quality wines, including the well-known Peraj Ha’abib, a Kosher wine, under the Montsant appellation.
