Rocafosca Blanc is a highly expressive white wine marked by its Mediterranean character. Made from a selection of the best white grape varieties: Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo and Cariñena Blanca. The grapes are sourced from a number of different vineyards located in Bellmunt del Priorat, Torroja del Priorat, and Vilella Baixa, a total of 3 hectares of old vines planted between 1937 and 2000 at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level.

All of the estates are organically farmed and have in common a similar steeply sloping slate soil that is rich in mica, the black or dark "Llicorella", a type of very laminated and brittle slate that retains heat and helps the bunches ripen, which gives this wine its character and exceptional intensity.

Production:

The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously selected, first manually in the winery on a sorting table and afterwards in a state-of-the-art sorting machine. The grapes are destemmed, crushed and put into the vat to ferment as a red wine with contact with the skins for 15 days.

Tasting Notes: 

This blend reflects the unique personality of the Pirorat white Grenache varietal. It opens with a beautifully aromatic intensity of predominately citrus and floral notes, along with a touch of aromatic herbs. Unctuous on the palate with just the right level of citrus acidity over a minerally background. A persistent finish with a slight sweetness hint at the end.

The Bodega Costers del Priorat is located in the municipal district of Bellmunt de Priorat in the highly acclaimed wine region known as Priorat. The winery comprises 20 ha of vineyards, mostly planted with old Grenache and Carignan vines that are between 40 and 100 years old, and most recently planted vineyards of Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards can be found on small, steep terraces; they produce very low yields, and the work is done entirely by hand.
