Production:
Sourced from 40-60-year-old vines from 5 different vineyards at an altitude of 90-300 metres above sea level. The plots are located around the village of El Masroig in the appellation of Montsant in the Catalonian region.
The wine has fermented in 3000-litre inox vats and aged for 7 months on its lees.
Tasting Notes:
Dry with good weight and flavourful pear fruits and white flowers. On the palate, ripe white fruits, especially white pears, butter and some citric notes are in the background. Dense and smooth. Finishes dry and long.
Orto Vins started in 2008 as the result of a joint project from 4 wine growers from El Masroig, a small village inside the appellation of Montsant in the Catalonia region. Jordi Beltran, Josep Mª Beltran, Josep Mª Jové and Joan Asens. All of them come from families with a long tradition of vine-growing. With this project headed by Joan Asens, an experienced oenologist best known for his work during 15 years in Alvaro Palacios's winery in Gratallops, where he was in charge of the viticulture and vinification side, they return to their origins, continuing to blend the finest quality wines from their own vineyards according to their traditions.
