Popul is the entry-level wine in the range of wines produced by winemaker and viticulturist Sandra Doix in Poboleda. A wine from an active agriculture of a sixth generation sourced from very old vines of indigenous varieties.

A wine that has its origins in an exceptional vineyard, 5 hectares of very old vines, some planted as early as 1902 and belonging to Sandra Doix's ancestors, planted with native varieties: Carignan, Black Grenache, and White Grenache.

Production:

Popul is a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Carignan and 10% Syrah. The grapes are individually vinified, by plot and by variety, and go through a selection process both in the vineyard and the winery, on the selection table.

Tasting Notes: 

It presents an intense cherry colour. The nose reveals notes of forest fruits, spices and mineral hints. Full-bodied and structured, with fruity tannins. Warm and ripe, with marked minerality and slight menthol sensations.

THE WINERY

Marla is Sandra Doix's deeply personal project, based in her hometown of Poboleda. A project that defends the origin of the autochthonous grape, based on the centenary Carignan vines of the family vineyards for the elaboration of her high-quality wines. Sandra Doix is an oenologist and winemaker, the sixth generation of a family with a long winemaking tradition in the Priorat village of Poboleda.
The project is housed in the old family winery of Mas Doix, where she works on 5 hectares of her ancestors' very old vineyards, some of which were planted in 1902. Sandra is assisted in the project by her parents and husband, both in the vineyard and in the winery.

Sandra has created two wines in her first vintage of 2019: a Vi de Vila "Poboleda" and a Vi de Paratge. Wines that add value and defend the native grape's heritage and the singular vineyard where they come from.
