Production: This dry rancio wine of very limited production is named after a Prior of Scala Dei in Priorat “Dom Juncosa” and was made to commemorate the end of the Spanish Civil war. Produced from a selection of the Garnacha grapes from Priorat, wines from barrels of different ages in a single blend with the solera mother dating back to 1939. Long ageing in Foudres Oak by the traditional method of Criaderas and Soleras.
Founded in 1851, De Muller is a top name in Tarragona, very well-known world-wide for being the supplier of the traditional Mass wine and for its rancio and fortified wines. At present, De Muller offers a very wide range of quality wines under the Denomination of Origin: Tarragona and also in Priorat and Terra Alta. From the beginning of 1996, the winery, surrounded by its vineyards is located in the finca “Mas de Valls” in Reus (Tarragona), their modern installations have a capacity for a production of four million liters, here they elaborate the Tarragona Denomination of Origin wines all sourced from their 150 Ha. of own vineyards. They also have a property in the village of El Molar, in the south-eastern part of el Priorat, 34 Ha. of vineyards, “Mas de les Pusses” and a new cellar with a capacity for 500.000 liters where it is produced the Priorat Denomination of Origin wines.
Tasting Notes: Amber color, displays hints of tropical candied fruit and caramelized citrus. Full bodied with an aromatic and fresh aftertaste. Beautifully crafted, complex wine.
Note: As all fortified wines, sediments can be produced within a period of time after its bottling. It is recommended to store the bottle upright at a temperature less than 25ºC. Excellent with nuts and hazelnuts and creamy cheeses.
