Production:  An Exquisite very old sweet Rancio, a solera wine made from very old wines of Moscatel and the Grenache variety, a combination of both black and white. under DO Priorat. Bottled from the solera dating back to 1918, commemorating the end of the 1^st World War and bears the name of the then Prior of Scala Dei, Dom Berenguer. Aged in Foudres in an oxidative way by the traditional method of Criaderas and Soleras. Residual sugar: 200.3 g/l

Tasting Notes:  Excellent aromatic concentration, roasted coffee, nutty, dried fruits, figs and raisins combined with spices, ginger, caramel notes. Dense, warm, excellent balance sweetness and acidity, very long aftertaste.

Note:  As all fortified wines, sediments can be produced within a period of time after its bottling. It is recommended to store the bottle upright. Ideal with pastries, cakes, dried fruits, nuts and raisins, and on its own after a meal.

THE WINERY

Founded in 1851, De Muller is a top name in Tarragona, very well-known worldwide for being the supplier of the traditional Mass wine and for its rancio and fortified wines. At present, De Muller offers a very wide range of quality wines under the Denomination of Origin Tarragona, as well as in Priorat and Terra Alta. Since the beginning of 1996, the winery surrounded by its vineyards has been located in the finca “Mas de Valls” in Reus (Tarragona). Their modern installations have a capacity for a production of four million liters, and here they elaborate the Tarragona Denomination of Origin wines, all sourced from their 150 ha of own vineyards. They also have a property in the village of El Molar, in the south-eastern part of el Priorat, with 34 ha of vineyards, “Mas de les Pusses,” and a new cellar with a capacity for 500.000 liters, where they produce the Priorat Denomination of Origin wines.
