Jane Ventura produces its monovarietal of Malvasia de Sitges from grapes sourced from its own vineyards. A variety originally from Greece. It is regarded as a recovered variety due to the very low number of vines that exist. This variety has been planted by Jane Ventura on its own estate, and it is currently being grown at Finca Els Camps and also at Mas Vilella.
Production:
The grapes come from their own vineyards in the Baix Penedès region of Tarragona.
Part of the wine is fermented in French oak barrels, and the other part in stainless steel vats. Fermentation takes place at a low temperature of 17 ºC.
Aged on its lees for 5 months with weekly batonnage.
Tasting Notes:
Lemon yellow in colour. Scented nose with stone fruit, peach, and apricot aromas, with exotic fruit, mango, and white flower aromas, and a background reminiscent of freshly cut grass. The palate is broad, with lively acidity and a long finish.
Since 1914, Jané Ventura has been a family-run operation in the village of El Vendrell. The vineyards are in the region of Baix Penedès, north of Tarragona, on small plots between the sea and the mountains. The Bodega is actually run by the last generation, Gerard Jané, who brings his experience and joyful passion to the family business passed on to him. He now produces a wide range of wines and cavas, all of which are characterised by their approachability and charm.
