Ultreia Mencía is a clear representative of the Bierzo style. It is a Mencía wine, a cuvée from old vines sourced from different plots in the DO Bierzo, in Valtuille de Abajo and Salas de los Barrios.

Fermented with partly whole clusters in oak foudres, long maceration, and ageing for 12 months in used barriques.

Tasting notes:

All finesse, complex, and elegant. Floral scents, mature fruit, spiciness and minerality, and good acidity, with tannins present yet not aggressive.

Raúl Pérez is regarded as among the most talented and innovative winemakers, almost a legend within the Spanish winemaking world and abroad. The collaboration with other winemakers and wineries has also proved a great success. He works with the autochthonous varietals of the area. He makes amazing wines in different appellations in Galicia and elsewhere, always small and selected productions. Getting hold of his wines is not that easy, as they are probably one of the most sought-after.
