Kripta, the masterpiece of the Cellar, was born in 1976. Its creator, Agustí Torelló Mata, is a man who has dedicated all his life to making cava. Each bottle of Kripta is the result of blending a very limited harvest of the oldest vines in Penedès under the experience and art of its master, Agustí Torelló.

Production: 

Elaborated 100% from the Penedès' traditional varieties, Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada grapes are sourced from 50+-year-old vines. Harvested manually, this long-ageing cava has a minimum ageing of 48 months with the yeast, and it has not had expedition liqueur added.

Tasting Notes: 

It presents fine and persistent bubbles. Clear and bright with a sweet aroma and creamy notes of ripe fruit and vanilla, slightly toasted, and good complexity. On the palate, it has a pleasant evolution with a silky froth and ripe fruit on a toasted background from its long ageing process. Long and complex aftertaste.

Note: Combines perfectly with fish and meat with sauce, caviar, smoked fish or meat, game, foie, and cured cheese.

The amphora-style bottle design is very distinctive; the label has been designed by the artist Rafael Bartolozzi, and it comes presented in an elegant, original blue case.

THE WINERY

Celler Kripta (Agusti Torelló Mata) is a family-owned winery of highly acclaimed prestige in the region, located in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the capital of Cava and the heart of the Penedès region.

They produce sparkling wines from the traditional local varieties, 100% Penedès, and 100% old vines. They strictly monitor the vines' growth, set production limits, and practise manual selection and picking of the grapes, vine by vine.

All of their sparkling wines are renowned for their character, quality, and prestige. 

Celler Kripta is one of the newest members to join the new brand, CORPINNAT, which stands for a collective European Union brand established with the aim of distinguishing great sparkling wines made in the heart of the Penedès from 100% organic manual harvest, 100% vinification on the premises of the winery, and long ageing.
